Congratulations to the few special people who own a Compass Hearts!
Because of the difficulty in producing these pieces there are only a few available at any given period of time.
It is rare to create a scientific instrument as a piece of jewelry, but the Compass Heart is constructed to be enjoyed both for its beauty and to function as an actual working compass. The “W” and “E” reflect the concept of WE Love as well as the directions of West and East when folded open in the compass mode. However, the most important purpose of any instrument is that it works. In this case, the Heart always needs to find Magnetic North. Being suspended on a silver chain creates a bit of a problem for a “true heart” to find North, since the chain tends to limit how far the Heart can turn. In order to insure that you will always be able to find the right direction in love and life, follow these simple directions:
1. Twist the chain from side to side with your finger tips. Allow the Heart to find North several times to make sure that the chain has not given you a false reading. The rare earth magnets in the tip of the arrow will always find North if unhampered by the chain.
2. In case you need to be extremely accurate finding your way Magnetic North varies a little from true North. South is represented on your Heart by the tail of the arrow. Now you just need to establish West and East!
3. Rotate the “W” and “E” counterclockwise to their full open position. With the arrow still pointing North you now have a full working Compass Heart.
